Did you know you can force iTunes to float above other windows (while in miniplayer mode): disabled by default, this feature is supported by iTunes on both Mac and Windows. It allows you to maintain the Mini Player above any other windows; this is especially useful on Windows, where maximized windows use all the available screen real estate. (On a Mac OS X, you usually have free space on either side of the Dock, where you could park the miniplayer window without resorting to this option.) Note that “stay on top” option only takes effect, if enabled, when you switch to miniplayer mode: the full size iTunes window will continue to behave as a normal window which is hidden behind other application windows.

Maintaining the Mini Player above other windows can be enabled through Preferences: on Windows, go to Edit > Preferences; on Mac, go to iTunes > Preferences. The keyboard shortcut to open iTunes’ preferences dialog on Windows is <kbd>Ctrl+,</kbd> (the comma key) and<kbd>Command+,</kbd> on Mac. This keyboard combination may seem odd, but it is well followed standard on Mac applications; (there is no such standard keyboard shortcut for program options on Windows.)

Enable or disable the floating iTunes miniplayer

In iTunes’ Preferences window, select the Advanced tab, and locate the Keep MiniPlayer on top of all other windowscheckbox. Check or uncheck it; it is unchecked by default.

If you decide later on to prevent the iTunes miniplayer from floating above other windows, simply go back to the Preferences dialog, and uncheck the “Keep MiniPlayer on top of all other windows” checkbox.

(Depending on your version of iTunes, the word “MiniPlayer” is either spelled in one or two words, whether you look at the Preferences or the Advanced menu – now under the View menu.)

Your world just grew by how far your legs could carry you and how far your mom was willing to let you go (and she knew if you went beyond those boundaries).

To show your individuality you tricked out your bike any way you could. If you were a Canadian kid you may have had one of these stuck in your spokes. He wasn’t going to amount to anything anyways and it made your bike sound like a Harley Davidson.

I was shopping recently and saw these. If I were 10 again, these bad boys would be on my banana seat bike right now! That kid looks like he is having fun.

Maybe your recent purchase of a new water bottle is your motivation. Maybe its a pair of shorts. Maybe its Turbo Crank. Whatever it is, use it to motivate yourself to reach your goals.

Feel like you are 10 years old again.

Just make sure your mom knows where you are at all times.

The Turbo Crank office was brimming with glee when an email from Chronic Cycling arrived this morning. Attached to the message were two photos of the soon to arrive clothing. That’s right, now you can match your workout software and be the envy of all the indoor cyclists on the block.

The jersey is a full zip deal so you can completely let it hang out when the going gets hot. The shorts, bibs of course. Even indoors you need that extra comfort that comes from the most comfortable piece of clothing on earth.

I was inspired by the Castelli style of jersey (think Cervélo Test Team) when I designed it. The horizontal bands across the front were once a staple of jersey design when the only way to have a multi coloured jersey was to sew two pieces of different coloured wool together. Now of course anything is possible but the simplicity of limiting the use of colour still makes a jersey stand out. Even the new Garmin/Cervélo jersey has toned down the use of argyle. Maybe jersey design is experiencing a renaissance.

I like it.

Prices and order forms will be up soon for the Team Turbo Crank kit. Stay tuned.

This causes the bike to be at a downward angle. Using a riser can fix this and can be used for different types of workouts. The riser also increases stability and eliminates vibration.

Risers come in a few shapes and forms. Some have multiple heights to match the focus of the workout. If you are doing a climbing workout you want to raise the wheel up a bit to change the angle your muscles are working.

No riser is perfect and most move a bit during the workout. Try putting a yoga mat under the riser for stability. Another important thing to remember is to keep your tires pumped to the recommended pressure. A soft front wheel can make a standing workout no fun.

When I started using indoor trainers they were call turbo trainers. You might have seen one of these on e-bay. You took the front wheel off the bike and secured the bottom bracket onto a post in the middle. The resistance was a fan only and if you were lucky, you had two fans.

These things were loud. And actually not that stable.

Fast forward 20 years and you have the rear wheel stationary trainer that is much more stable and quiet. You have a few options when it comes to resistance also.

There was also a new word that popped up too, spinning. Now you say what’s the difference?

Spin classes are for getting a good low impact cardio workout. The spin bikes (are they really bikes if they do not move?) do not have gears, only resistance. The handlebars are similar to tri bars and nothing like road bars. The one cool thing is that a spin bike is a flywheel setup meaning you have to keep pedaling, no options.

I myself like to call it indoor cycling. Or you could still call it cycling because your legs are still spinning, er I mean cycling in circles.
